Chief Human Resources Officer

Marie-Chantal Lamothe was appointed BDC’s Chief Human Resources Officer in 2019.

In this role, she provides leadership and direction to ensure the development of a stimulating employee experience that is aligned with BDC’s overall strategy, purpose and brand. She also works closely with the other members of the Senior Management Committee to build and maintain a diverse and talented workforce that is engaged, skilled and committed to supporting Canadian entrepreneurs. She chairs BDC’s DEI Leadership Council as it aims to increase the talent diversity around the business. It also serves to build and sustain an equitable, inclusive, and engaged culture where all employees feel respected, appreciated, and valued for their uniqueness. By leveraging diversity internally, we better understand and meet the needs of our entrepreneurs.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Marie-Chantal has contributed to the full range of human resources functions: change management, organizational development, talent acquisition, training, compensation, succession planning, and more. She is particularly interested in how human resources departments can help organizations adapt and evolve. She has brought this passion to several significant technology implementations and business transformations throughout her career.

Prior to joining BDC, Marie-Chantal held executive positions in the Jean Coutu Group, where she managed teams responsible for supporting more than 25,000 employees and participated in the relocation of the Group’s offices and its state-of-the-art distribution centre. She also helped with the acquisition of the Group by Metro. She has held human resources positions in large banking, aerospace and consulting firms such as Laurentian Bank, Bombardier Aerospace and Deloitte.

Marie-Chantal holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from HEC Montréal and a master’s degree in human productivity management from the Université de Sherbrooke. An active member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CRHA), she is a recognized speaker and author.
