Stefano Lucarelli was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BDC in November 2017.
In this role, he is responsible for BDC’s financial planning and reporting, finance operations, treasury, enterprise shared services and business quality review.
Stefano has over 30 years of experience in financial planning, reporting and controls, as well as treasury and advisory services operations.
He began his career as an auditor with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. He joined BDC 1989 and held a series of roles of increasing responsibility. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Finance in 2012 and became BDC’s Chief Audit Executive in 2015.
Some of his key accomplishments were the development of a loan-provisioning model, and implementation of a customer relationship management system as well as an internal control certification program. He also oversaw the transition to the new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Stefano is bilingual and holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in accounting from Concordia University. He has completed the leadership program offered by Queen’s University, where he focused on business strategy and leadership. He is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec and holds the title of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
