Suzanne Trottier joined the BDC Board of Directors in June 2019.

Ms. Trottier brings to BDC extensive experience as a senior leader in the Indigenous sector. She is Vice President, Indigenous Trust Services at the First Nations Bank of Canada since July 2020. In her previous role with the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), she led a team responsible for supporting more than 200 First Nations governments across Canada build their financial management capacity. She also led the FMB’s expansion into Quebec, an effort made possible by the relationships she forged with regional First Nations governments, service providers and other stakeholders.

Before joining the FMB, Ms. Trottier was a regional coordinator of financing agreements for Health Canada’s First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. She also provided strategic and financial advice to Indigenous organizations as co-owner of BASE Partners, and was a vice-president at EY Corporate Finance.

Ms. Trottier has served on the boards of the North Fraser Métis Association, AFOA Quebec and ACTION ENFANCE. She is a member of the National Indigenous Financial Literacy Working Group and was also a member of the National Financial Literacy Committee.

Ms. Trottier is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) from the University of Manitoba.

Chairperson of the Audit and Conduct Review Committee, member of the Board Risk Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee.
