Marie-Soleil Lacoursière joined the BDC Board of Directors in June 2023.
Ms. Lacoursière is a highly regarded leader with over 15 years of global management experience in the mining and energy sectors. A long-term Northerner, her career has always been at the intersection of international business, sustainability, continuous improvement and technology. She continually strives to strengthen Northern and Northern Indigenous business ecosystems and is passionate about ensuring meaningful opportunities are available for all, particularly Indigenous peoples. In 2025, Ms. Lacoursière left the corporate world to pursue entrepreneurship through acquisition. She currently runs Aurora Village in Yellowknife, one of Canada’s leading tourism providers.
She has extensive experience serving on boards of directors, including her current role as Chairperson of Prosper NWT, formerly the Northwest Territories Business Development and Investment Corporation.
Ms. Lacoursière is also highly decorated academically. She is a certified corporate director (CDI.D) and holds a GCB.D sustainability designation from the Competent Boards Institute. She holds a joint master’s degree in Governance and Entrepreneurship in Northern and Indigenous Areas from the University of Saskatchewan and the Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, and a Graduate Diploma in Operations Management from McGill University, among other degrees and certifications.
