Brian O'Neil

Brian O'Neil joined the BDC Board of Directors in June 2017 and was appointed Chairperson in December 2023.

Mr. O’Neil has more than 25 years of experience working with, advising and investing in small and medium-sized Canadian companies.

He is currently President and Chief Investment Officer of A Faire Aujourd’hui Inc., a Toronto-based family office and private equity fund involved in the syndication of significant minority investment in private companies. Post-investment, he often plays an active role supporting investees in financing their operations, exporting their products and growing their business.

Before entering the field of investment management, Mr. O’Neil worked for Buck Consultants, a global human resources firm. He has also worked for the Government of Canada.

Mr. O’Neil is a director of Pivotree, Montrose Property Holdings Ltd., Huys Industries and Fowler Construction Company. He previously served as a director on the board of Blue Ant Media and as a member of the investment advisory board of Eventi Capital Partners.

Mr. O’Neil holds a master’s degree in Finance from Queen’s University and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Western University. He is a CFA Charterholder and was granted the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
