Deep Tech Venture Fund

The Deep Tech Venture Fund is a $200 million early-stage investment fund targeting Canadian companies working in deep tech verticals.

What we do

The Fund is actively looking for startups with the potential to have a transformative impact on global industries. Such companies working with BDC Capital enjoy support throughout their journey, including by facilitating market access and playing a role in every stage of their growth.
This fund will focus on seed and series A investments in a number of deep tech verticals:

  • quantum information sciences
  • photonics
  • electronics
  • foundational AI and
  • related sectors (advanced materials, robotics, etc.)

The future of deep tech

After decades of world-class research in Canada, deep tech innovations are becoming commercially viable, and consequently an increasing number of startups have begun to emerge and advance these.

Canada is well positioned to develop and commercialize these innovations, and this fund is designed to help cultivate this nascent industry in our country, and put Canadian entrepreneurs on a level playing field with competitors around the world.
