Please note: the BEF is a performance + impact equity fund investing in Black‑led businesses across venture capital, growth investments, and entrepreneurship through acquisition. It is not a grant program or a provider of conventional loans.

Is this fund right for you?

BEF makes disciplined investment decisions based on business fundamentals and growth potential. For us to consider your company for investment, you must meet the criteria below:

  • A Canadian registered company
  • be a Black founder or executive team member with equity ownership of the company
  • be committed to building sustainable pillars of the Black community and creating the next generation of Canadian champions
  • be actively seeking growth capital and have your business overview ready to share
  • be a leader in one of the following types of organizations:
    • For Venture Capital Investment:
      • High-growth company with minimum $250-500k in revenue (preferably $1M+) and clear scalability potential, OR
      • Pre-revenue company with breakthrough technology/IP that could create entirely new markets
      • Business positioned for significant scale in large market opportunities
    • For Growth Investment in Established Businesses:
      • Profitable established business generating $1-5M EBITDA
      • Company with defensible market position and growth potential
      • Business model resilient to AI disruption
    • For Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA):
      • Solid operational experience with demonstrated business leadership capabilities
      • Actively seeking to acquire and operate an established business generating $1-5M EBITDA (or demonstrate a clear path to get there)
      • Identified acquisition targets or a clear search strategy
      • Committed to full-time ownership and operation post-acquisition
