Nancy M. Laird joined the BDC Board of Directors in April 2015.
Ms. Laird has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas and technology sectors and has held senior positions in several major energy companies. She has a diverse background in managing marketing, midstream assets, information technology and environmental portfolios.
For the last 13 years, she has been very involved as a member of numerous corporate and not-for-profit board and advisory committees. She brings extensive experience as member of a wide range of board committees, including audit, human resources, governance and nomination, as well as health safety and environment.
Previously, Ms. Laird served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Midstream at PanCanadian Energy Corporation (predecessor to Encana Corporation). She was also President of NrG Information Services Inc., a high tech joint venture between four of North America’s leading natural gas pipeline companies, and held various positions of increasing responsibility with Norcen Energy Inc., North Canadian Oils Inc. and Shell Canada Limited.
She currently serves as a director of Keyera Corp., Alter NRG Corp., FilterBoxx Water & Environmental Corp., and is Lead Director of Synodon Inc. She also serves as Chair of Calgary Counselling Centre and MindFuel (previously Science Alberta Foundation).
Ms. Laird holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business. She also holds the Corporate Director (ICD.D) designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
