Abdullah Snobar joined the BDC Board of Directors in May 2019.
Abdullah Snobar is the Executive Director of the DMZ at Ryerson University, a leading tech accelerator that helps high-potential startups scale and grow. More than a home for entrepreneurs, the DMZ positively impacts the world by preparing tech founders for global expansion, which enables them to foster more made-in-Canada jobs and build technologies that change lives.
Under his leadership since 2015, the DMZ’s incubator program was named number one in the world by UBI Global. The organization also opened its first U.S. office in New York City and partnered with numerous industry leaders to build the most highly sought after and competitive programs for startup growth. In 2018, the DMZ was named one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures.
Prior to joining the DMZ, Abdullah held roles at Ryerson University, the Canadian Armed Forces, Fairmont and Marriott Hotels and Resorts and co-founded a non-profit foundation in Kenya. He’s an avid community builder with a longstanding history of working with youth and underserved communities at home and abroad.
Abdullah regularly appears in media and is a member of the Forbes Tech Council. In 2018, Abdullah became a recipient of Canada’s 2018 Top 40 Under 40. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Ryerson University.
