Sarah Fortin was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer of BDC in August 2026. She leads the Bank’s human resources function, overseeing talent, culture and workforce strategies that support BDC’s business objectives and long-term growth. As a member of the Senior Management Committee, she plays a key role in building a high-performing, future-ready organization capable of delivering on BDC’s mandate to Canadian entrepreneurs.
With more than 20 years of experience in human resources, legal affairs and organizational leadership, Sarah is recognized for her strategic vision, business acumen and ability to build trusted relationships. A lawyer by training, she is known for her sound judgment, rigour and ability to lead complex transformations with agility, empathy and a strong focus on results.
Prior to joining BDC, Sarah served as Chief Talent and Culture Officer at Canderel Group, where she established the human resource foundations required to support the organization’s growth objectives while fostering a best-in-class employee experience. In this role, she led talent, culture and organizational initiatives that strengthened employee engagement and business performance.
Earlier in her career, Sarah held senior human resources leadership roles at PSP Investments and BlackRock, including assignments in London, United Kingdom. Through these experiences, she developed deep expertise in talent management, organizational transformation and governance within large, highly regulated institutions, including Crown corporations.
