Julie McGill is a Partner in BDC’s Strategic Investments and Women in Technology Venture Fund. Julie is a passionate advocate for inclusive investing, supporting women in leadership roles and developing the next generation of women-in-tech founders and investors.
Julie has been helping small- and medium-sized businesses successfully scale their operations for more than 20 years. Prior to joining BDC, Julie was the Managing Partner of a family office where she led the deployment and management of capital across a variety of venture capital, private equity and fund-of-fund investments. Before that she was a Director at CAI Capital Management, one of the world’s top-performing mid-market private equity funds. She was also previously Vice President of Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services group.
Julie co-founded Women’s Equity Lab in Vancouver, which provides an on-ramp for women to activate their capital through direct private investments. She has also served as an advisor to and chair of the boards of numerous privately held, member-owned and not-for-profit organizations.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Finance from McGill University. She is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator, and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
