Founded in 2009, Plexis Precision is a high‑tech company specialized in designing and manufacturing automated laser systems. In particular, the Montreal‑based SME has developed an enviable international reputation in the nano‑processing of polymer cardiac implants and vascular stents.
The company’s growth strategy was based on three drivers that required significant investment: purchasing new equipment, hiring staff and obtaining ISO 9001 certification.
Plexis Precision turned to BDC, which provided them with financing for 100% of the cost of new equipment as well as a working capital loan, giving it the latitude required to hire staff. Costs related to obtaining ISO 9001 certification were also financed.
Through this valuable support, the company grew its production capacity and strengthened its market position. Case in point, it expects to double its sales in the short term. In addition, thanks to BDC’s financing, it received a $50,000 from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program.
“We want to highlight BDC’s flexibility and the availability of its staff,” states Olivier Bataille, president of Plexis Precision. “Thanks to its support, Plexis Precision became more competitive and was therefore able to pursue its expansion. Now, our team is able to better respond to market demand and secure its future with a solid business development strategy.”
