Ask any child in Winnipeg where to go for indoor fun and the answer will invariably be Kid City.
It’s no wonder as Kid City is equipped with a massive, three-level play structure, separate toddler area, an all-new laser maze, bouncy castle, sports court, foosball, air hockey, mini cars and more. Catering to children aged one to 12, Kid City first opened in 2010 in a 8,500-square foot facility that also offers private party rooms, a café with seating for 75 people and a lounge area with couches and flat screen television.
It didn’t take long for Kid City President, Deena Caplette, to realize that, due to growing demand by parents for a safe and clean environment and by kids for a place to have fun, a second Kid City location would be welcome news.
Caplette turned to BDC for help in acquiring a 10,500-square foot site in a centrally located area. BDC Financing, along with partial funding through the Aboriginal Loan Program, provided Kid City with high-ratio, long-term financing to assist with completion of leasehold improvements at the new site and for the purchase of indoor playground equipment.
Today, the future looks bright as both Kid City locations are thriving with new and repeat customers. Says Deena Caplette: “BDC made my dream a reality—as a result of BDC’s support, I have been able to not only open our first Kid City but to expand to a second location.”
