On November 15, the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) celebrated the grand opening of its new premises at the Uptown Market Shopping Complex in Markham, Ontario, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti, as well as members of the community, area professionals, BDC officials and clients. At the ceremony, Mayor Scarpitti presented the new BDC Markham Business Centre with a certificate of recognition for BDC’s service and leadership in the Markham area since 1999.
Over the years, BDC Markham has supported area entrepreneurs in their efforts to develop healthy, profitable businesses in the community, and the new premises will allow BDC to serve existing and new entrepreneurs even better.
“It’s amazing to reflect on how much has changed since BDC opened a branch in Markham in October of 1999,” said Margaret Peco, BDC Markham Business Centre Manager.
Since opening, the business centre has tripled its number of employees and its portfolio has grown significantly—over four times. That growth means that BDC is helping more and more entrepreneurs build strong businesses in the community.
BDC Markham appreciates being part of the community and looks forward to helping businesses grow and succeed for many decades to come.
