Diane Lafontaine

Chief Corporate Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Officer

Diane Lafontaine was appointed Chief Corporate Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement Officer in April 2024.

In this role, she is responsible for all facets of corporate strategy, public affairs and government relations. She is also responsible for our corporate planning and prioritization process.

Diane has more than 25 years’ experience, half of which were spent in the financial sector.

Prior to joining BDC, Diane was Vice President, Communications and Marketing, at the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, where she held a diverse portfolio of responsibilities that included marketing strategy and stakeholder relations. She also oversaw the organization’s Strategic Steering Committee, which was responsible for the successful execution of key strategic initiatives.

Before that, she held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Rise People, where she led the expansion in Quebec, managed operations, and contributed to the strategic direction of the product roadmap.

Diane holds a University Certification in Corporate Governance from the Université Laval, a postgraduate diploma in public administration - international administration from the National School of Public Administration, and bachelor’s degrees in communication and cellular biology and anatomy from the University of Ottawa. She serves on the boards of Finance Montréal and the Institut national de santé publique du Québec and has been an active mentor for many years.
