Karim Hirji is Senior Vice-President, International & Ventures at Intact Financial Corporation (IFC), Canada’s largest home, auto and business insurer. His responsibilities are two-fold: investing in emerging opportunities to expand IFC’s capabilities; and leveraging IFC’s core competencies to accelerate and develop other businesses, both at home and abroad. As part of his mandate, Karim has been leading the advancement of products and partnerships within the sharing economy in Canada, including Uber and Turo. He also leads the efforts of Intact Ventures, a $250M fund that has invested in start-ups such as Metromile, Snapsheet, Turo, Alert Labs and a few other undisclosed investments.
Karim has an executive MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (Honours) from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Insurance Professional.
