Karanjit Bhugra is a seasoned finance professional that has enjoyed a broad array of experiences spanning mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory, and corporate finance. Karanjit began his investment-banking career with BMO Capital Markets advising large North American and Asian-based clients wishing to pursue cross-border M&A activity. At the boutique firm Strateva Partners, Karanjit provided financial advisory services to small and mid-cap entities in relation to potential acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations and restructuring initiatives. His experience has spanned a variety of industries, including: real estate, IT, manufacturing, metals & mining, clean technology, and retail.
Prior to joining Deloitte Corporate Finance in 2017, Karanjit most recently held the position of Director & Team Lead, Structured Finance at Roynat Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bank of Nova Scotia. Karanjit specialized in the underwriting of complex financing transactions, particularly ones that involve: management/leveraged buy-outs, equity take-outs, subordinated debt, and cash flow/unsecured lending. Typical clients included entrepreneurs, private equity investors, family investment offices and real estate holding companies.
Karanjit holds a Master of Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. Karanjit currently serves on the board of Seva Food Bank, an initiative of Sikhs Serving Canada, and remains actively involved with a number of charitable organizations.
