Roger Wilson is Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Management—Growth & Transition Capital at BDC. Previously, he spent 25 years as an investment professional in the venture capital business, where he invested in technology-based companies mostly in Life Sciences and IT, with his most recent role being Partner in BDC’s IT Venture Fund. He has been involved in the financing, growth, turnaround and M&A of many of BDC’s investments, playing an active role on the board of directors of over 20 private and public companies across a diverse range of businesses and stage of development. Prior to working at BDC, Roger managed the sales and service operations of a Montreal-based entrepreneurial company.
Roger has served as Vice President of the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA) and Chair of the CVCA's Professional Development Committee. He has also served on the investment/advisory committees of various funds and industry organizations such as CVCA, MaRS IAF, OCE, RIC Centre, CIX, various accelerators, etc. as an active member of the start-up and investment communities. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University and an MBA from Concordia University.
