Vivian Kan is Partner, Cleantech Practice, at BDC. Vivian has over 15 years of experience in business development, structuring, risk analysis, and commercial and corporate finance. She has helped some of Canada’s top exporters and emerging global entrepreneurs in sectors ranging from cleantech, oil and gas, mining, transportation, infrastructure, light manufacturing, life sciences, aerospace, forestry pulp and paper, and consumer products.
Prior to joining BDC in 2017, Vivian spent over 14 years at Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada’s export credit agency. She was Financing Manager at EDC, where she analyzed lending opportunities with start-ups as well as small and mid-size companies with high growth potential. Vivian also worked as an underwriter at EDC, where she worked with leadership to develop risk mandates to provide bonding solutions for Canadian cleantech ventures. Before that, she was Research Associate, where she conducted economic and investment research for the corporate finance team. Vivian holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Calgary and has completed the Certificate in Carbon Finance from the University of Toronto’s Centre for Environment.
