Darya Jalali is an Associate Principal with BDC’s Cleantech Practice in Vancouver. Motivated to contribute to the transition into a sustainable future and support the growth of Canada’s emerging technologies, she specializes in debt and equity investments, in addition to her experience in portfolio management.
Darya first joined the Cleantech Practice at BDC in 2018 as the team’s analyst. Prior to that, she was a summer analyst for BDC’s Growth & Transition Capital team, where she supported portfolio management for companies in the Western Canadian region and aided directors in the deal process. Previously, she was a treasury co-op analyst at Sierra Wireless, Inc. (TSX: SW), a leading provider of fully integrated device-to-cloud solutions for the Internet of Things, where she helped build and maintain cash management dashboards. Darya also spent 4 years as the finance manager for the 7dayringproject, a social enterprise supporting women’s entrepreneurship through selling handcrafted rings from Ethiopia, where she was responsible for the team’s financial management.
Darya holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from the University of British Columbia, with a specialization in Finance and a concentration in Sustainability, and is a CFA Level 2 candidate. She is passionate about making an impact in the Canadian Cleantech sector.
