Charles Cazabon is Vice President, Venture Capital responsible for BDC’s Life Sciences investments and Special Situations. He joined BDC in 2001 as Managing Director, Life Sciences. Mr. Cazabon has over 20 years of venture capital experience. Before joining BDC, he served as vice president at one of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec's investment subsidiaries where he managed a team that provided venture capital, expansion and acquisition services for Quebec-based businesses.Previously, he worked in PE and VC firms in Montréal and Toronto, with an M&A boutique in Montréal and in commercial lending in Southern Ontario. He has served on numerous public and private company boards and is a former President and member of the Board of Réseau Capital, the Quebec Venture Capital Association.
Mr. Cazabon holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, a Master of Science degree in Biology from Laurentian University and an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo.

Denis joined BDC Venture Capital in 2003 as Managing Director, Life Sciences.
Denis Ho has over 20 years of experience in the North American financial markets including years with MDS Capital Corp. as venture partner, Forbes Capital Canada Inc. as partner, KPMG as partner and Mercantile Bank of Canada as account manager.
Denis holds an MBA, University of Western Ontario, an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology, Queen's University and a B.Sc., from the University of Toronto.

Gary Bantle has over 11 years of venture capital experience. Prior to joining BDC, Mr. Bantle worked as a research scientist in the area of drug discovery for a number of pharmaceutical companies including Syntex (USA) and Boehringer Ingelheim. Mr. Bantle holds a M.Sc. in organic chemistry and MBA in New Venture Development. He is the co-inventor on two pharmaceutical based patents and co-author on over a dozen scientific publications.
Mr. Bantle has been the lead investor on a number of life science investments over the past ten years. He currently sits on the Board of multiple life sciences based companies and is active with executive, audit and compensation committees. Mr. Bantle is also active with BDC's Corporation Social Responsibility Advisory Council. |

Ms. Borenstein has over 20 years of management, entrepreneurial and consulting experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining BDC, she was chief operating officer and held the position of vice president in clinical, regulatory affairs and product strategy for various biotech companies, as well as senior vice president of scientific affairs for a public pharmaceutical company. Ms. Borenstein's diversified background includes senior management responsibilities in drug and medical device development as well as key involvement in product acquisition and M&A activities, which included a business development role and the building of multi-disciplinary teams involved in all aspects of research and product development. Ms. Borenstein is currently serving on the boards of several of our Life Sciences portfolio companies.
Ms. Borenstein holds an Honours B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario, an M.Sc. in Pharmacology from the University of Toronto and an MBA in Bio-Industries from UQAM.

Charlie Fong joined BDC Venture Capital in 1998. Prior to this, he spent eight years at a Fortune 500 multinational pharmaceutical company, after which he worked at venture capital backed biotechnology companies where he helped raise two rounds of financing. Mr. Fong has held general management and P/L responsibilities in a bio-informatics business and was previously head of mergers and acquisitions at a publicly-traded company with annual revenues of $150 million. Mr. Fong’s experiences include drug discovery, clinical development, intellectual property protection, marketing, sales training, medical education, product launches, business development and strategic partnerships.
Charlie Fong has post-doctoral training from the University of California, Berkeley.

Brenda Irwin's focus in Venture Capital is biotechnology. Her approach is largely the result of an initial career in the computer industry as marketing manager for a national distributor, coupled with her experience as a science educator for the North York Board of Education. Her decade of venture capital financing experience ranges from investments in private seed-stage companies to investments in publicly listed companies. She also boasts significant experience in facilitating M&A transactions. Ms. Irwin has served on the boards of directors of 13 private and public Canadian life sciences and medical technology companies.
Ms. Irwin is a frequent guest speaker at life sciences conferences and an active community and business mentor. In 2004, she was honoured as one of Business in Vancouver's Top 40 Under 40.
Brenda Irwin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology and Biomedical Science, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, from the University of Guelph. She also holds a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, and an MBA from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in Information Technology.

Jean-François Pariseau joined BDC Venture Capital in July 2001. He has over 15 years of investment and entrepreneurial experience in the life sciences sector. Prior to joining BDC, Mr. Pariseau was an investment manager at a venture capital fund with global investment activities in healthcare, information technology and advanced technologies; his duties included being responsible for healthcare investments in Canada and the United States. Over the past 12 years, he has invested and managed more than $200 million in biopharmaceutical and medical device companies in North America. Mr. Pariseau’s experience includes transactions in private and in public companies, IPOs, M&A and fund investments. Prior to this, he was CEO of a consulting company specializing in regulatory affairs as well as VP, R&D for a pharmaceutical-product distribution company, both of which he founded.
Mr. Pariseau holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Université de Sherbrooke, a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Université de Montréal, and an MBA from HEC-Montréal. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of AngioChem Inc., Resonant Medical Inc., Osprey Pharmaceuticals USA and BioQuébec.
