At BDC Venture Capital, we are passionate about building outstanding Canadian companies that generate growth, and create value and prosperity. We take a multi-faceted approach that incorporates both direct investment in companies and indirect investment in other venture capital firms (General Partners).

Our direct investment strategy is implemented through a series of targeted internal funds or portfolios. These include our three internal General Partner funds: Energy/Cleantech Fund, Healthcare Fund and IT Fund. In addition, we manage a direct investment fund through our Diversified Portfolio team, as well as our Quebec-specific GO Capital “sidecar” fund.

Our indirect investment strategy, which allows us to support and leverage other successful venture capital funds in Canada, is primarily driven by our Fund of Funds team. We are recognized as an important Limited Partner for venture capital funds in Canada.

Our Strategic Investments and Initiatives team deals with both direct and indirect investments. This is a uniquely qualified team with an ambitious mandate: to support and significantly impact the Canadian venture capital and innovation ecosystems.

We operate in different ways and through different vehicles, but at BDC Venture Capital our ambition is shared: to create great Canadian success stories, to demonstrate that early-stage investors can achieve their objectives, and to showcase Canada to the world as a vibrant and sustainable environment for technology investment, innovation and commercialization.
