As Managing Director of Special Situations, Karl Reckziegel is responsible for managing turnarounds, workouts and divestitures within BDC's Venture Capital portfolio at the national level. Mr. Reckziegel joined the BDC Venture Capital team in 1992. An engineer with close to two decades of corporate finance experience, he is intimately familiar with all aspects of debt and equity structures. Mr. Reckziegel has represented BDC on the Boards of numerous private and public companies. At BDC, he has served as Vice President of the Virtual Banking unit, which included responsibility for managing BDC's strategic alliances. Prior to that, Mr. Reckziegel was Vice President responsible for BDC's lending and consulting practice in Vancouver. Before joining BDC, he held positions in engineering, technical sales and industrial marketing with Esso Petroleum Canada. He later served as a senior executive in an international trading company with operations in Montréal, Toronto and overseas. Mr. Reckziegel's professional experience includes project management, strategic planning, management of strategic alliances, corporate board effectiveness and turnaround management. He has lived and worked from St. John's to Vancouver.
Mr. Reckziegel holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and an MBA with a major in Finance from Concordia University in Montréal. |

Phil Anzarut joined BDC Venture Capital in January 2009 as Director, Special Situations and, as such, is responsible for managing and executing portfolio divestitures and turnarounds. Mr. Anzarut is a former investment banker, having begun his career in corporate finance at HSBC Securities. He has also worked independently providing financial advisory services to Canadian small-cap companies. In 2001, he joined TELUS Corporation as Director of Corporate Development / Mergers & Acquisitions, and spent the next seven years leading acquisitions and strategic divestitures on behalf of TELUS - both at the corporate level and for TELUS Ventures. Mr. Anzarut has also led acquisitions on behalf of CAE Inc. in Montréal. He is a member of the Board of Directors of TBayTel.
Mr. Anzarut holds a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Immunology from McGill and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. |
