Every year during BDC Small Business WeekTM, we celebrate entrepreneurs and Canada’s small and medium-sized enterprises. This year, while entrepreneurs gather to meet and learn from each other at various events across the country, BDC will also celebrate a milestone in its history: 2014 marks the 35th anniversary of BDC Small Business WeekTM!

Successful entrepreneurs focus on tried and true strategies to take their companies to the next level.  They know there will be challenges on their path to creating and sustaining a competitive business. To prevail, they need the right preparation and a solid roadmap. That means fostering excellent customer and supplier relationships, applying sound financial management principles and hiring the best people.

Join us and use BDC’s Small Business WeekTM 2014—a time to celebrate and promote Canadian entrepreneurs—to go back to basics and reenergize your business.

BDC Small Business WeekTM is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship that the Business Development Bank of Canada has been organizing for 35 years.

Each year, around 10,000 business people come together at events across Canada to learn, network and socialize.

Conferences, seminars, information sessions, luncheons and trade fairs take place across the country. Check our interactive map to find out what’s happening near you.

How it all started

In 1979, BDC business centres in British Columbia’s Lower Fraser Valley pooled their resources to organize a week of activities for entrepreneurs.

Two years later, BDC decided to launch BDC Small Business WeekTM across Canada.

The initiative was quickly adopted by Canada’s business community and BDC Small Business WeekTM has become a not-to-be-missed annual event for entrepreneurs.
