The mission of BDC is to nurture Canadian small and medium-sized businesses through timely and relevant financial and consulting services. BDC employs and empowers a team committed to delivering superior service to consistently meet our clients' expectations.

In all its activities, BDC must ensure its financial viability by assessing risks and generating sufficient earnings to maintain its day-to-day operations. It must exercise sound judgment in all credit decisions and maintain prudent control of its expenses.

  • Charter of client rights
    The Charter outlines BDC's commitment to its clients.
  • Client complaint handling process
    BDC strives to achieve client and supplier satisfaction in every instance but if you are dissatisfied with a decision or service, your complaint will be handled promptly.
  • Independent mediation process
    The help of an independent mediator may be a viable alternative in cases where an adverse change in risk requires us to call a loan. Consulting clients may also choose this option in some circumstances.
