Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Confidential, professional counselling to help you address personal challenges like relationship or parenting concerns, bereavement, addiction, and career issues.

Time off with pay
The amount of vacation you are entitled to is based on your position and length of service. You can also buy additional vacation days under the Flex Benefits Program.

You are also granted personal days to support you with personal responsibilities such as family illness, religious holidays, community/volunteer work, and studying for or writing an exam when taking professional development courses.

Leaves of absence

  • Sick leave: If you are ill, injured or unable to work for health reasons, our Short-Term Leave Plan provides continuation of your full salary for up to 26 weeks. Beyond this period, if you are still unable to work, our Long-Term Disability Program will provide you with disability benefits, based on the options you elected for
  • Childcare leave: BDC supports employees with childcare responsibilities. In addition to legal leave of absence requirements, BDC tops-up normal Employment Insurance benefits provided to the biological mother employed by BDC 

Scholarships for children
Up to 10 scholarships of $1,000 each for the children of BDC employees pursuing higher education.

Helps you find information on available professional services in areas such as childcare or home care for a parent.
