BDC Young Entrepreneur Award
The BDC Young Entrepreneur Award contest rewards outstanding Canadian entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years of age. To enter the contest and a chance to win the $100,000 Grand Prize, young entrepreneurs are invited to present a turning point or decisive moment their business has reached, and the solution that will put it on a new trajectory toward growth. A second prize, consisting of $25,000 in consulting services, is awarded to the BDC Young Entrepreneur Award runner-up. Winners are selected by public vote combined with a score attributed by a national committee.
BDC Entrepreneurship Awards
Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our economy and the future of Canadian business. Their ideas—and their energy—are the driving force behind creating jobs and prosperity for all Canadians.
Now, it’s time to recognize Canadian entrepreneurs and their vital role in the success of our country. We have launched four awards that recognize entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves for their contributions to the spirit of Canadian entrepreneurialism.
In partnership with some of the country’s leading business organizations, the BDC Entrepreneurship Awards are presented throughout the year to recognize outstanding contributions in each of the following four pillar areas:
- BDC Mentorship Award—Nominations are now closed
This award, offered in partnership with the Futurpreneur Canada, recognizes a Canadian business mentor credited by their peers for having provided valuable advice and support that has led to the creation and growth of Canadian companies by building their mentees’ professional skills and abilities.
- BDC Innovation Award—Nominations are now closed
This award, offered in partnership with Canada’s Venture Capital Association (CVCA), recognizes a Canadian early-stage company that has demonstrated the ability to innovate or reshape their industry in exciting and previously unforeseen ways.
- BDC Entrepreneurial Resiliency Award—Nominations are now closed
This award, offered in partnership with the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), recognizes spectacular turnarounds of businesses or entrepreneurs that demonstrate recovery from failure in a way that is bold and inspiring to other businesses that may be facing similar challenges.
- BDC Entrepreneurship Champion
This award recognizes a Canadian entrepreneur who has created and grown many successful businesses over the years, making a substantial contribution to the prosperity of the Canadian economy. The 2014 BDC Entrepreneurship Champion will be selected by a panel of experts and announced in October during BDC Small Business Week.
